ATC cards
The latest art craze to hit the Georgia mountain area is the “Artists Trading Cards”. This is a fun way to create and share with each other. The Georgia Heritage Center for the Arts has been holding open workshops where the artists have come together and shared their creative ideas as well as their supplies. The point of this project is the exchange of cards as well as personal experience and is not to be sold, but rather to trade.
At the first workshop everyone pretty much worked on similar ideas for their cards, but as we continued to work the artists took on their own techniques and started developing many multimedia projects based on the original idea. Judith Hendrix a watercolorist who had worked with miniatures in the past began to develop awesome boxes using the cards as the lid for her boxes. Each artist work has become very personalized and truly makes for a very creative outlet.
The artist trading cards are the size of baseball trading cards and the idea was initiated in 1997 by Zurich artists m.vance stirnemann and since then several hundred people from all over the world have traded with each during trading sessions or through the mail.
